Greater Pittsburgh Business and Professional Women

Our Organization

The Business & Professional Women’s Club, Inc. (BPW) was founded in 1919, one year before the 19th amendment was passed by Congress. This amendment gave women the right to vote in the U.S.A.

Our Mission Statement:

To achieve equity for all women
in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information.

Our Objectives:

  • To elevate the standards for women in business and in the professions.
  • To promote the interests of business and professional women.
  • To bring about a spirit of cooperation among business and professional women of the United States.
  • To extend opportunities to business and professional women through education along lines of industrial, scientific, and vocational activities.

The GPBPW is very active in the state organization as well as in our local community. Each year we choose to work with several non-profit organizations through fundraising, mentoring, education, advocacy, and volunteering.
